I mounted my Lund 8148 48" tool box to the inside of the rock guard on my car hauler trailer. The box is designed to mount under a trailer, so the furnished steel L-brackets were of no use; besides, I avoid mixing steel & aluminum to eliminate aluminum deterioration from electron transfer! I had to fabricate a custom mount system for my application to handle all of the road vibration.I have had the box installed for about 6 months, using it on several trips and it seems to be up to the task holding up well. I don't think it is the most durable box on the market and wonder how it would hold up to highway debris in a under body application, but in my semi-protected application, durability isn't as big of an issue. I think there is value for your dollar and I'm please with my purchase.JimWhere to start... you get what you pay for I guess... The skin dents very easily because they are so thin. When I opened the box it was so banged up and dented, it took me a good 15 mins just to hammer all the dents down so It looked decent. They didn't all come out and they have to be babied to keep new ones from occurring. The curved part that contacts the back of the door weren't built right so now rain gets in them. The doors don't fit square and even like they should. The little stabilizing legs that come with them are a joke. They are so flemsy you can bend them just by pounding on them with your fist. God forbid anything in the truck bed bumps them while I'm driving down the road. Lastly, DO NOT TOUCH THEM WITH SWEATY SKIN... for some reason sweat stains the aluminum. It looks like glass does when it is etched with acid. It does NOT wipe off with any amount of cleaner. Spend the extra money for steel diamond boxes. These are just cheap toys.Works great on a deceiver trailer for storageThis was installed along the inside of the truck bed closer to the gate, not way in the back. With the door open there were really sharp edges that I needed to put a thick rubber trim on. Easy access to all my tools and a great way to keep them safely lockedLove that I can just lower the bed gate and access the tool box without opening the coverWas a little Leary of this box because of the low price. WOW ! I was surprised at the quality welds, shiny finish and heavy duty latches. Highly recommend.It only gets 3 stars because I had to order it twice because it showed up damaged. The second one was also damaged, but I was tired of sending it back and I was able to beat the dent out enough that I could use it. The price was good so you get what you pay for.We purchased this item to sit on a trailer and to house a tool. It has a metal plate sitting under it so there is plenty of support and where it is attached to the metal, it has cracked so badly that we will have to replace this. It still looks brand new on the outside. We are very disappointed in the sturdiness of this item and will not purchase another from this brand. Beware it can not take much use as we have only had this for a little over a year.Was a bit scepticle on the size but it holds a lot of stuff and it looks great. Mounting took all of 10 minutes and I received it in 3 days. All around great box
